Vonda Sargent, with a Washington State Supreme Court unanimous ruling, won an important milestone in case law regarding racism in the courtroom. She continues to be a force for justice in our criminal legal system in WA and beyond.
Monet Carter-Mixon is the sister of Tacoma’s Manny Ellis, who was killed by TPD officers on March 3, 2020. Monet and her family continue to fight a fierce fight for justice in her bother’s name, even as the three TPD officers named in his death remain on the TPD payroll.
The story is profiled in a podcast, The Walk Home, produced by KNKX News and The Seattle Times.

Join Indivisible Tacoma members as we meet with Rep. Strickland to hear her perspectives and priorities in the US House.
What progress might be made?
We’ll express our very deep concern about the accelerating privatization of Medicare, transporting hazardous materials, corporate pressure against environmental protections, and hope for policing and reproductive rights policies at the national level.
Indivisible members around the US intend to fight MAGA policies everywhere and want those Congresspeople who supported the insurrection held accountable.
The Legislative Action Team’s primary role is to meet with our Members of Congress or their staff, as well as our WA State Legislators and others who represent us locally.
We all have to stay informed and speak up. Please join us!
