We Must Keep the Pressure On! Help Us Raise $500 and Indivisible U.S. Will Match Your Gift
Barely four months into 2019, it’s clear that our hard work in taking back the House is paying off. The House Democrats we helped elect are using their new power to stand fast against Trump’s border wall and investigate the White House’s corruption and crimes… All while pushing for popular programs like electoral reform, a Green New Deal, Single Payer, and protection for Dreamers and TPS recipients.
With your help, U.S. Rep. Kim Schrier (D-8) and State Rep. Mari Leavitt (D-28) won Republican-held seats. And, amazingly, Brian Duthie and Jamie Smith came within just a few hundred votes of winning seats in the GOP-leaning 25th district.
But none of this would be possible without your support, and that of other Indivisible groups across the nation. We worked tirelessly to get progressives elected. And now, we keep pushing every day for these important bills as a compelling alternative to Trump’s cruel and toxic agenda. We’ve got the leverage. Now, we need to urge Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell and Reps. Derek Kilmer and Denny Heck to go full-tilt for our progressive values.
To do this, we need your help. After pushing back in 2017 and 2018, we’re running low on funds. Now we’ve set our goal to raise $500 this month for upcoming actions… AND Indivisible National has offered to match this goal, dollar for dollar — but only for support we receive in April!
Help us reach our goal and meet this matching challenge by chipping in $20.19 — your gift will go twice as far if you give today!
Indivisible Tacoma is completely volunteer-run and we operate on a shoestring budget. Your contributions will help us pay for signs, printed materials, our website, email list, rent for our meeting venue at the Tahoma Unitarian Universal Congregation, voter registration booths, gas, snacks for volunteers, and other expenses.
Chip in $20.19 today so Indivisible Tacoma can keep organize, build power, and continue to fight back in 2019.
Give 20.19 to Indivisible Tacoma Today!

This Week’s National Actions: Release the Mueller Report and Defund ICE/CBP
Demand a Full Release of the Mueller Report
Call your MoCs and demand they make Mueller’s findings public and continue investigations to hold Trump accountable. On March 14, the House voted 420-0 to release the Mueller Report (that’s right, everyone, including Republicans). For more info, read Indivisible U.S.’s report and call to action.
Script: Hi, I’m [Your First and Last Name], your constituent, calling from {Address and Zip]. Please use the full extent of your oversight and investigative powers to ensure that the results of Robert Mueller’s investigation are made public. I also ask you to continue your own investigations — which are wider in scope than Mueller’s — in order to get to the truth and hold Trump accountable.
Urge Your Rep to Defund Hate (ICE and the CBP)
Trump is still committing human rights abuses at the border to try to scare asylum seekers and refugees away. The best way to fight back is to defund Trump’s deportation machine through the appropriations process and demand major cuts to ICE and CBP’s funding levels.
If you’re in the 6th District, we urge you to call Derek Kilmer because he’s on the House Appropriations Committee. That means he helps decide how much funding ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and CBP (Customs and Border Control) receive. If you’re in the 10th, 9th, or 8th Districts, please scroll down for a slightly different script.
For more info, read Indivisible U.S.’s report and call to action.
Script for Derek Kilmer’s Constituents
(Because he’s on the Appropriations Committee)
- Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-6) 253-272-3515
Since Kilmer has direct influence over ICE and the CBP’s budget, we need to let him know we want funding for these cruel and hateful agencies cut back and eventually defunded entirely.
Script: Hi, I’m [First and Last Name] from the 6th District at [Address and Zip]. This is to demand we cut funding for ICE and CBP to FY16 levels. We also urge you to add specific language that bans ICE and CBP from raiding other DHS accounts to fund their activities. I want us to defund these cruel and racist agencies for good.
Script for Reps. Denny Heck, Adam Smith, and Kim Schrier’s Constituents
(Because they’re not on the Appropriations Committee)
- Rep. Denny Heck (D-10) 253-533-8332
- Rep. Adam Smith (D-9) 425-793-5180
- Rep. Kim Schrier (R-8) 202-225-7761
Just because they’re not on the House Appropriations Committee doesn’t mean they have no say. Urge them to sign on to Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) and Norma Torres (D-Calif.)’s “Dear Colleague” letter.
Script: Hi, I’m [First and Last Name] from the 6th District at [Address and Zip]. Please sign on to Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s and Norma Torres’ “Dear Colleague” letter. This requests that we cut funding for ICE and CBP to FY16 levels, ban ICE and CBP from raiding other DHS accounts, and to eventually ban these cruel and racist agencies for good.
