Rep. Derek Kilmer, Sixth Congressional District, will meet with the Indivisible Tacoma Legislative Action Team and bring updates from Congress.
Rep. Kilmer serves on the House Appropriations Committee, the Interior and Environment Subcommittee, and Energy and Water Development Subcommittee. He is Chair of the Modernization of Congress Committee to make it more effective, efficient, and transparent.
We will thank him for sponsoring the Protecting Our Democracy Act which would address many of the tools to prevent insurrections such as Jan 6, for supporting the For the People Act on Democracy reform.
We’ll ask him to support investments in WA rail for passenger and freight and what parts of BBB can still be achieved. We’ll discuss the urgency of climate policies, including eliminating fossil fuel subsidies, our alarm about voting rights and the privatization of Medicare, and our request that he support HR 1976, the Medicare for All Act of 2021.
The Legislative Action Team’s primary role is to arrange meetings with our Members of Congress or their staff, as well as our WA State Legislators.
